Following the denunciation by the UN General Assembly of the acts committed by Russia, as a violation of the principles enshrined in the UN Charter as well as in the follow-up to the mechanisms set up by international community to hold to account the perpetrators of war crimes for serious human rights violations and abuses, Albania, Colombia, Denmark, the Marshall Islands, the Netherlands and Ukraine co-founded this cross-regional forum, which will be dedicated to securing responsibility for international crimes committed in Ukraine.

The “Responsibility / Accountability Friendship Group” will be based in New York and Geneva and will aim to exchange information between states, international organizations, institutions and civil society, optimizing the accountability and justice process, but also the engagement of smaller states in the process.

In attendance of the meeting will be the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim A. A Khan, who has already opened the case of Ukraine, after being referred to court by 41 countries, including Albania, as well as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet.
