Among the thousands of families damaged in the quake, whose houses are being rebuilt from scratch, the Municipality of Tirana has also rebuilt the house of the family of Havzi Nela, the poet executed by the communist regime 33 years ago.

Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj visited today the Islamaj family, who came from Kukës to Picallë of Petrela, and is a beneficiary of the Reconstruction Program. Veliaj congratulated them on the new house and emphasized that the reconstruction process has no party colours and political divisions.

He added that 62 more houses are being reconstructed in this area.

“Like Nazmie Islamaj’s house in Picalla, in Tirana we are rebuilding 62 other houses, for those who were affected by the earthquake in this area. I am very happy for the Islamaj family that entered a new house”, said the mayor.

Veliaj said that the work continues throughout the summer to meet the commitment of providing a shelter to each of the affected families.

The mayor also stressed that work is underway to open a new school and kindergarten in the area.

“Children from 2-3 years old to 18 years old no longer need to take the van to go to Tirana to be educated, as the construction of the kindergarten and school here in Petrela has been completed”, he said./r.e/p.s./
