Immediately after returning from Luxembourg, where Albania opened negotiations for the ‘Fundamentals’ cluster and was officially introduced to the ‘interim benchmarks’ in Chapter 24 ‘Justice, Freedom, and Security,’ which includes the establishment and functioning of the Early Warning System on New Psychoactive Substances and the National Drug Observatory, a coordinating meeting was held at the request of the Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection with representatives of key institutions in the fight against narcotics and tackling challenges related to narcotics,” announced Lamallari.

In a post a social media, Lamallari announced that along with his colleague Entela Ramosaj, he discussed with representatives from the State Police, the Institute of Scientific Police, the Mother Teresa University Hospital, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and others, the necessary measures for the establishment and functioning of these two key mechanisms, aimed at protecting citizens and public health.

In the follow-up to the commitment made by the government, Lamallari added that these mechanisms will be up and running within the deadlines agreed upon with the European Commission.
