According to INSTAT’s preliminary Demographic Indicators report, the number of births in the fourth quarter of the year was 5 857, down by 7.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of deaths during the reviewed period was 4819, recording a decrease by 10.5 % compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

During the fourth quarter, seven districts across Albania recorded positive population natural growth, while such figure was negative in five districts.

According to INSTAT data, Tirana recorded highest natural growth of population during this period with 833 births more than deaths, whereas Korça, southeastern Albania, saw the lowest growth rate with 139 deaths more than births.
