TIRANA, June 12 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media to mark the 24th anniversary of the NATO deployment to Kosovo on June 12, 1999, saying “this is the day to deeply reflect and get Kosovo out of the deadlock into which the absurd spat with our allies has plunged into.”

The government head stated that “nor would freedom and democracy for Albanians or the Republic of Kosovo have existed without the strategic allies of the Albanians, good friends on the worst days.”

“A quarter of a century from today, NATO’s entry into Kosovo serves as a reminder to everyone that without the strategic allies of the Albanians, good friends on the worst days, there would be no Republic of Kosovo, nor freedom and democracy for Albanians in Kosovo! God bless our allies!” Rama said via the social media.

Therefore – he went on saying – this is the day to reflect deeply and get Kosovo out of the deadlock into which the absurd quarrel with our allies has placed it! Kosovo must come out through dialogue, not with police, with concrete ideas, not with propaganda, with good friends, not with mistreatment of friends.”

PRISTINA, June 12 /ATA/ – Kosovo state officials paid tribute and laid wreaths at a plaque commemorating the fallen NATO peacekeepers as the country marks the 24th anniversary of liberation on Monday.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani described the June 12, the day when NATO troops entered Kosovo and Serbian militaries pulled out, as the most important day for the country.

The head of state expressed gratitude to the state visionaries, activists, Kosovo Liberation Army and the Allies who contributed to the country’s liberation and independence.

“Today we honor the NATO soldiers who entered Kosovo on June 12 to ultimately seal our country’s liberation. We are eternally grateful and we reiterate this gratitude on behalf of all Kosovo citizens to the states visionaries, President Rugova, and all the activists who sacrificed everything to lay these foundations. 24 years after NATO entered Kosovo, our gratitude lives on. The bravery of the KLA lives on. Our resilience lives on,” Osmani said.

“After years of oppression, loss, pain and suffering, the people of Kosovo finally experienced what they had long fought for: liberation,” she added.
