TIRANA, May 28 /ATA/ Students from “Dhaskal Todhri” School and “Tirana Economic Technical School” held the final activity of the “Fibsat” project. Thanks to this initiative, around 60 young people were trained in managing their personal finances, including learning how to invest online.
Through the application, young participants had the opportunity to save, invest in their digital portfolio, and learn through videos and interactive quizzes, as well as receive rewards for good grades.
Nearly 90% of the students chose to invest in savings accounts over other options offered by the application, such as Apple stocks and Bitcoin. Although they had the opportunity to withdraw their earnings halfway through the program, the participants opted to continue, a clear indication of the value this experience held for their personal development.

The Minister for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, participated in the closing ceremony of the project, which is another initiative aimed at empowering young people and equipping them with life-long skills. Innovative projects focusing on financial education for youth are of particular importance to the Albanian government.
“As Albania is rapidly advancing toward the digitalization of public services, it is essential that children and young people learn to navigate new financial systems, which will reduce the use of cash and encourage the adoption of digital applications for transactions,” stated Muzhaqi.

This initiative has demonstrated that innovations in financial education driven by digitalization produce tangible outcomes when integrated with experience, decision-making, and tangible incentives. The successful model, piloted by a second-tier bank, which connects students’ academic performance to an interactive banking platform, presents an innovative and hands-on approach to financial education in Albania. This approach establishes the foundation for an integrated system whereby students engage not only in theoretical learning but also in the practical management of finances through convertible virtual currencies.

Financial education is essential in helping young people establish a sustainable relationship with money from an early age. By learning about savings, money management, and expenditures, they become more responsible and aware of the financial decisions that impact their future. This knowledge helps them avoid economic difficulties and develop sustainable financial strategies.
