According to Mehdi Hafizi, Director of the National Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” and the Ethnographic Museum of Kruja, “the two institutions have received more than 200,000 visitors, from Albania and abroad, since the beginning of the year.”

Hafizi emphasised that “170,000 visitors have chosen the ‘Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu’ Museum, and over 30,000 have visited the Ethnographic Museum, demonstrating a strong interest in our history and culture.”

“Beyond the summer months, which naturally see high visitor numbers, the autumn months—September, October, and November—have also recorded significant footfall. During these three months alone, both museums welcomed over 60,000 visitors,” Hafizi added.

Meanwhile, Hafizi added that with the November holidays approaching, a high number of visitors is expected.

“This year, among foreign tourists visiting Kruja, the majority are from Poland, France, the United States, and Spain. A significant number also come from China, Germany, Israel, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Italy,” Hafizi said.

The National Museum “Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu” is among the most visited museums in Albania. Situated within the ruins of Kruja’s centuries-old castle, the museum opened in 1982. The building is designed to resemble a fortress of a medieval Albanian castle, with a primary focus on documenting the life and achievements of Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu, the country’s national hero.

The Ethnographic Museum of Kruja comprises a total of 15 rooms, each designed with its own function, layout, and socio-ethnographic symbolism. Many visitors, both domestic and international, include the Ethnographic Museum as a key part of their tour of the historic city of Kruja.
