TIRANA, April 4 /ATA/ A string of projects are taking shape in the city of Berat as part of the second stage of Urban Renaissance Program.

On Monday, Prime Minister Edi Rama saw first-hand the large urban requalification project of the entire area, which carries a special historical and tourist value around the Ethnographic Museum, along the historic street “Mihal Komneno,” “Mangalem,” “Selamllëk” square together with the area where a religious complex including the King Mosque and the Helvetive Tekke are located.

Praising the works that are being carried out in this area, Rama asked for more attention to other details such as lighting and greenery.

“It is bringing about a change, a revolution. Now it seems as if Mangalem is ‘flowing’ down. My concern is that the whole interior is neatly arranged, cobblestone alleyways are well repaired and private houses are restored. It has been rehabilitated compared to what it was, but needs a very elegant touch in lighting so that in the evening it is crowded with people rather than a dead space.
“Trees and flowers described in the Qur’an need to be planted around the mosque,” Rama added.
The mayor of Berat, Ervin Demo, stressed that the entire electrical infrastructure of this area is already underground. /m.m//a.a/sm/
