During the protest, which lasted less than an hour, tires were burned, and the speeches were shorter because the protesters decided to join the civil disobedience of the opposition deputies in front of the Assembly.

Belind Këlliçi, the political leader of the Democratic Party for the Tirana district, accused Veliaj of being the mastermind of the incinerator scandal. Këlliçi called on Judge Erjon Bani to notify them of the date for the preliminary hearing on the incinerators case.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Freedom Party councillors’ group in the Municipality of Tirana, Tedi Blushi, stated that the time has come to fight tooth and nail, because in his view all other alternatives have been exhausted.

After the speeches, the group of protesters joined the demonstration of the suspended deputies in front of the Assembly, where the situation escalated with a large number of police forces confronted with the opposition deputies.

The chairman of the parliamentary group in the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, said that police officers pointed their weapons at the deputies.

“Armed police officers entered the premises of the Assembly of Albania and surrounded the deputies. They pointed their weapons at the deputies of Albania, attacking them in their workplace. It has never happened in 34 years that Special Police Forces enter the premises of the Assembly to assault deputies. This is the true face of a criminal who is at the head of the Ministry of Interior. They think they will intimidate the deputies of the Assembly of Albania with Special Forces,” Bardhi stated.
