Speaking at the SP Assembly gathering, Rama underlined that “this positive constitutional change should be a target that aligns with the voters’ will.”

“After ten legislatures and 1,136 MPs elected during Albania’s democratic period, the current number of parliamentarians is excessive. Reducing the number of MPs to at least 101 would have a positive impact in more than one respect,” Rama said.

He also highlighted shortcomings within the Assembly itself, noting that it lacks its own legal framework and proper administrative support.

“The Assembly, which passes laws for all, does not yet have its own statute. It lacks a sufficiently supported administration and even a permanent home that guarantees the practice and aesthetics befitting a European Union member state,” Rama added.
