TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi and his counterpart from Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, signed on Wednesday in Tirana the protocol that further improves the regime of free cross-border movement for residents living in areas on both sides of the Albania-Kosovo border, according to the agreement signed last year .

According to the two ministers Çuçi and Svelça, this protocol is another step forward in this barrier-free process because the free movement of vehicles is added to the freedom to cross the border to suit the convenience of these residents.

After signing the protocol, Minister Svelça said that “our ongoing work is coming to fruition, it requires continuous improvement of agreements in order to facilitate the lives of citizens and cater to them as much as possible”.

“Signing of this protocol will bring closer not only the institutions, but also the citizens of the two countries, and I am also convinced that it will not be the last agreement, as more agreements will follow until the citizens of the two countries do not know where they are or where they are working,” said Svelça.

Minister Çuçi said that “I wish we could have only one agreement on cross-border movement, and this free movement that we are enabling for border residents within 30 km of each country could apply to the entire territory of Kosovo and Albania, but until then, since we live in Europe and are a European community, we must abide by these international agreements that we adhere to. Until then, we do our best for our citizens to move as freely as possible.”
