TIRANA, Feb 3 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, said that “the agreement with Greece to establish in Kakavija a joint police and customs cooperation centre will increase cooperation with the neighbors, but also the security of our country with the EU.”

In his remarks during the plenary session, Çuçi noted that, “the agreement is consistent with our intention to make Albania a country with open, but safe borders.”

“So this center, he continued, serves the free movement of citizens and goods, but also the crackdown on illegitimacy. It is intended to tighten border security, intensify the fight against trafficking, smuggling and organized crime.”

The Minister informed that in essence the agreement is designed to establish a joint center of experts from police and customs of both countries with view to exchanging information and conducting risk analysis to prevent criminal activity and cross-border crime.
