After a speech delivered by the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha, a group of protesters hurled Molotov cocktails at the entrance of the Prime Minister’s Office, which ignited upon impact.

As tensions escalated, police responded with tear gas to disperse the crowd and intervened to detain suspected individuals. Security forces formed a cordon to prevent protesters from approaching the building.

Protesters later moved toward the Parliament building, where further confrontations occurred. Police used water cannons to push back demonstrators attempting to breach security barriers.

Several opposition figures reported health issues linked to tear gas exposure. DP officials including lawmakers Luçiano Boçi and Flamur Noka were affected, while former parliamentary candidate Aulon Kalaja and lawmaker Klevis Balliu were taken for medical assistance.

Clashes between protesters and police included verbal confrontations, with several individuals detained for throwing pyrotechnic materials and incendiary devices.

The protest eventually dispersed after demonstrators were blocked from reaching parliament. Berisha left the scene for the Democratic Party headquarters.

The opposition held its seventh nationwide protest, calling for the government’s resignation and the holding of free and democratic elections.
