During March, the OSCE Presence in Albania, together with the Ministry of the Interior and the State Agency for the Rights and Protection of the Child, held meetings in Shkodra, Vlora, and Durrës to address the challenges of human trafficking, with a special focus on the exploitation of children and foreign citizens.

Child protection workers, anti-trafficking police officers and representatives of Prefectures, as part of the Regional Anti-Trafficking Committees, engaged in discussions on strengthening co-ordination mechanisms among local institutions to improve the identification and referral of potential victims of trafficking.

The OSCE Presence remains a committed partner in the fight against human trafficking in Albania and will continue to support Albanian institutions in holding these roundtables in other regions across the country.

TIRANA, July 8 /ATA/ – A toll payment system due to be levied on the users of the newly-built Thumane-Kashar highway will officially become operational in the next few days, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy announced on Monday.

The Ministry added that the public and road users will be notified in advance on the date and the schedule when the toll fee application will become operational.

The Thumanë-Kashar is the first class A motorway built in Albania according to European safety standards, with a maximum speed limit of 130 km/h and a toll of 2.1 euros. However, drivers will also be able to use secondary roads without tolls.

The 21.5 km Thumane-Kashar highway is the first segment of the Blue Corridor project.

The project marks a new era for highways in Albania, as the country continues to modernize its road infrastructure to support growth and development. The Thumane-Kashar highway will significantly cut travel time between these areas and the neighbouring countries, facilitate the movement of goods and people, and help drive economic growth in the region.

TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA-By I.Vata/ – The Ministry of Interior confirmed Saturday that Albania’s Total Information Management System (TIMS), was subject to a new cyberattack and work is underway to restore the system and make it fully operational.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior clarified that “last night, the State Police’s data storage and transfer systems were under a cyberattack, similar to the one against the e-Albania portal in July. Preliminary data show that the attack has been launched by the very same hand.”

The Ministry of Interior underlined that the system is currently inoperable and work is underway together with the partners to restore the system.

“Our experts, together with experts from our partner countries, are working intensively shortly after the attack was detected to primarily ensure that the data are not compromised and then neutralize this criminal offence. For safety reasons, our systems, including TIMS, have been temporarily shut down until danger is fully averted. The TIMS system will be restored very soon,” the Ministry of Interior said in its statement.
