In his remarks at the First National Anti-Corruption Conference, Çuçi recalled when 8 years ago, then Minister of State and National Coordinator Against Corruption, proposed the first idea of the StopKorrupsionit.al platform.

“It was an innovative instrument for the time, which for the first time gave voice to the citizens to report cases of corruption and which delivered an impact in terms of the number of reports and referrals to law enforcement agencies. Suffice it to mention that in the period 2015-2017 alone, of more than 17,000 complaints filed, over 10% were related to corruption, which attested to the willingness of citizens to report abusive or corruptive phenomena. “Almost a decade later and especially after the great lesson learned during the pandemic period, we actually realized how powerful technology was and what benefits it brings, which were inconceivable leaps for small countries like Albania,” said Çuçi .

“It is no coincidence that today, on the second day of this conference, the buzzword continues to be digitalization. Digitalization as an antidote to corruption, as an instrument to close the space of any person trying to gain favors. Precisely to root out corruption, over 90% of the public services provided by central government institutions have gone online, and we are working to do the same with local government services. The Ministry of Interior alone has over 90 services online from May 1. “We chose this form, because it cuts physical contact of the citizen with the state employee and thus reduces discretion, and consequently, the possibility of bribery,” he said.
