TIRANA, March 15 /ATA/ Revenue in personal income tax collections during 2022 amounted to ALL 45 billion.

Referring to the statistics published by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the income from this budget line was 5.7 billion ALL more than in 2021, or 14.4% more than in 2021, as well as 2 billion or 4.3% less than the plan for 2022.

The increase in the level of personal income tax collections is attributed to the obligation of the self-employed to complete the individual annual income statement within the first 4 months of the year, as well as the government action to correct salaries.

A total of 82,178 individuals had to declare their personal income by April 30, 2022.

Even the Special Anti-Informality Unit for Income from Employment and Services, set up a while ago by order of the Prime Minister, delivered positive results in terms of the response of taxpayers to report the real salaries of their employees.

Over 25% of employees jumped from the minimum wage level to a higher level, meaning that they did not actually receive the declared minimum wage, but received more.

Meanwhile, the government has submitted to the parliament for discussion the changes in the law “On income tax”, which aim to solve the problem created by the avoidance of salary tax, given that many professionals are registered as self-employed, falling into the income tax rate at 0% level.

On the other hand, the government has approved changes in the law “On income tax,” according to which salaries up to 50 thousand lek will be exempted from paying any type of tax. The law has arrived in parliament for discussion.
