After complete reconstruction, Gjirokastra “Omer Nishani” regional hospital has been transformed into a facility with modern conditions for doctors and nurses, performing improved health services to over 60 thousand residents.

The building which extends over an area of ​​8,600 m² has got transformed into a modern health center for the city’s residents, but also the many tourists who visit the stone city.

During inauguration of the Pediatric Specialty Hospital, Rama stated that this investment is part of the modernization of healthcare, including children hospitals and regional maternity hospitals throughout the country.

“I come here again for another door that we are opening in this hospital center, where the transformation is already comprehensive and where there are still few buildings left to be integrated into this transformed center. I am also very pleased that we are giving Pediatric doctors and nurses the opportunity of another building of the highest contemporary standards, while soon, with this year’s funding, we will also realize the transformation of the third building, the Infectious Pediatrics”, Rama said.

The prime minister underlined that this is the year with the highest budget for healthcare, 1 billion euros, a high and unimaginable budget until a few years ago.

The prime minister also focused on a series of very important projects that will reduce the pressure on the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center.

“We have a series of projects ahead in the gynecological service, just as we have a other projects of renovation of the health centers. All these are expected to decrease the pressure on the Hospital Center, giving your center the opportunity to be a real university center”, Rama said. /r.e/p.s./
