TIRANA, October 13 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the investment in Zvërnec serves as a model of how to invest in harmony with nature.

Rama answered questions from journalists during a joint press conference with the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence Thomas Byrne, following the 10th Albania-European Union Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg.

When asked by a journalist from the British “The Independent” newspaper about developments in Albania regarding Jared Kushner’s investment, Rama remarked that viewing Albania from the outside—through the filters of online media—can lead to misunderstandings.

“I would invite you to come to Albania because when you view the country from the outside, you can easily misunderstand or get confused. And viewing the country through the lens of modern online media will only leave you bewildered and without a clear picture,” Rama said.

The prime minister emphasized that the project involves much more than just a single name. “It is a project for which we have great ambition, and one we wish to realize as a model for how to invest and develop in today’s world in harmony with nature,” said Rama.

The prime minister also emphasized that the events broadcasted worldwide have helped improve the initiative and drive progress toward results that will prove convincing to far more people than initially anticipated.

“However, it remains something that must be proven and grounded in facts; therefore, we await the moment when we can demonstrate the full scope of the work currently underway,” he stated.

TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ The government approved amendments to the law on the organization and functioning of the state administration.

This draft law modernizes state administration by standardizing planning and reporting through a unified monitoring system. By publicly releasing institutional performance reports, the government is making public sector results transparent and highly visible to citizens.

This draft law reforms non-ministerial bodies into subordinate institutions and autonomous agencies, ensuring better oversight and ministerial accountability. It specifically targets administrative bloat by limiting the creation of small agencies, allowing ministries to absorb these functions for greater efficiency.

The draft law decentralizes decision-making by empowering general directorates to handle routine processes, reserving only specific legal cases for the minister or secretary general. This streamlines operations, frees secretaries’ general to focus on strategic priorities, and reinforces administrative accountability.

A core aim of the reform is to establish strict criteria for placing institutions under the Prime Minister, preventing the center of government from becoming overloaded. This allows the Prime Minister to focus on intersectional coordination and top priorities. Additionally, the draft law ensures that any new structures are strictly necessary, time-bound, and goal-oriented.

By setting clear rules for hiring, career progression, and dismissal, this reform directly improves public services like hospitals and schools. Citizens will experience a tangible difference through the increased professionalism, integrity, and performance of the staff they rely on every day.

Endorsed by the European Commission and OECD/SIGMA, these proposed changes aim to build a modern, accountable administration focused not on internal procedures, but on delivering tangible results that improve citizens’ lives.

TIRANA, June 6 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted Portugal’s Ria Formosa as proof that protected areas and economic growth can coexist. On social media, he argued that the environment and the economy don’t have to be mutually exclusive, using the Algarve’s transformation as a prime example.

“When it comes to development in protected areas, many present the debate as a choice between nature and economy. But, there are places that show that the reality can be quite different. Ria Formosa, in the south of Portugal, is one of the most important lagoons in Europe. A unique landscape with flamingos, migratory birds, sandy islands, coastal dunes and an extraordinary biodiversity, Rama wrote.

And, the prime minister added, “Precisely there, in the heart of this landscape, Portugal built one of the most successful stories of economic transformation in Europe”.

“A few decades ago, the Algarve was a peripheral region, with an economy mainly based on agriculture and fishing, with low incomes and high emigration. Instead of following the model of low-value mass tourism, Portugal made a strategic choice: it invested in luxury and high-value tourism, Rama emphasized.

“This is how destinations like Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo were born, located next to one of the most important ecosystems in Europe. Not despite nature. Thanks to nature,” said Rama, adding that the result was “billions of euros of private investment. Thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Significant increase in property values. Much higher income for each tourist. A tourist season that lasts all year round. The transformation of the Algarve into one of the most prestigious destinations in Europe.”

And in the meantime, added Rama, “The flamingos are still there. The migratory birds are still there. The lagoon is still there. Even biodiversity itself has become part of the tourist product. Visitors do not go to the Algarve despite the Ria Formosa. They go because of it.”

According to the prime minister, the lesson is simple.

“The question is not whether nature and development can coexist. The question is whether we have the vision, knowledge and will to make them coexist. Because wealth is not created by choosing between nature and development. Wealth is created when nature becomes part of development and development becomes an ally of nature”, he emphasized.

“Ria Formosa is no longer a theory—it is a proven, visible success story”, added Rama.

“We have moved past a difficult century and are now transforming into one of the world’s most dynamic tourist destinations. Albania is finally being appreciated globally for what it is—a truly blessed country full of potential”, concluded PM Rama. /gj.m/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, April 14/ATA/ Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro visited Glamping Albania Adventure, a campsite on the banks of the Vjosa River that combines the experience of camping with comfort.

“Glamping Albania Adventure is a new flower that has sprouted on the banks of the Vjosa River, a model that combines the experience of camping with comfort, a completely ecological experience, with 100% clean energy and in full respect for nature, further promoting the sustainable development of Përmet area through water sports experiences, ecotourism and agrotourism as a jewel for the promotion of local economies,” Kumbaro wrote in the social media.

“It is fantastic how from a personal sports adventure of the past years to go rafting, we arrive today in a structure like this, with a space like this, on the edge of the Vjosa, in a space in which we have accommodation capacities of about 80 beds for all age groups, for families, for children, which will go side by side with the protection of nature, with respect of the landscape, with development of an auxiliary economy such as gardening”, emphasized Kumbaro.

Kumbaro added that when we talk about sustainable development; it is not impossible even in a protected area.

“This is a concept of how you can develop environmentally friendly tourism, with biodiversity and even love nature even more”, said Minister Kumbaro. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, September 4 /ATA/ Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu announced a new model in the medical center in Thumana, which has already been completely reconstructed with contemporary conditions and modern equipment.

In this center, there will be opened a new cabinet dedicated to the treatment of sports traumas.

“Thumana has now new sports spaces to encourage a healthy life. Together with the Albanian Development Fund, we thought of creating here a center of excellence for the treatment of sports trauma. With the creation of the physiotherapy cabinet, we will offer specialized services for the rehabilitation of people who need it. This cabinet will be equipped with qualified staff, and it will be a new model, which will be initially piloted in Thumana, with the aim of extending it to other cities as well”, said the minister.

On the eve of beginning of the new school year, Koçiu emphasized the significance of a healthy lifestyle for children, with a focus on screening for scoliosis in children aged 6-10 years.

According to her, the scoliosis screening program in schools is a key element for the health of our children. “We are preparing a national program for the early diagnosis of scoliosis, which will start with the beginning of the new school year. This program is an added value for our children, helping them build a healthy life,” she said.

The minister concluded her speech by underlining the unwavering commitment of the government to create the best possible health and educational conditions for the young generation. “Investing in health and well-being of our children is the best investment for the future of the country. With such initiatives, we are laying the foundations for a healthier and stronger society”, emphasized Koçiu. /p.s./

TIRANA, February 13 /ATA/ Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla met in Rome with Italian counterpart Matteo Piantedosi and agreed on the model of good management of confiscated properties with criminal origin that the Italian state is applying and will also be followed by the Agency for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets.

“Italy has great experience in dealing with seized and confiscated property, mainly property that was once owned by criminal groups or the Italian mafia. In this respect, we have agreed with Minister Piantedosi that we can use the Italian experience in the way we will approach the properties that are being seized and confiscated from the criminal groups or other corrupt activities”, Minister Balla stated to the media after the meeting.

The two Interior Ministers have also agreed to strengthen cooperation between the police of the two countries.

“Within a few days, the technical group will meet in Tirana to detail everything we have agreed between the two ministers today,” added Balla.

During the meeting, the Albanian interior minister asked for membership of the Albanian Traffic Police in the Association of European Traffic Police with associate or observer status, in order to benefit from their experience.

Accompanied by the leaders of the Coastal Police of Durrës and Vlora, Balla said that the aim is to increase security on our coasts, in the fight against traffic, but also to guarantee that every holidaymaker spends his holidays peacefully and without being disturbed by misuse of water resources./p.s./

TIRANA, May 4/ATA/ With the support of the IPARDII program, the enterprises are oriented to invest in the creation of agricultural and livestock farms according to the best competitive models of the closed-cycle market, providing standards and added value.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca visited the “Fshatçe” farm, in Libofsha of Fier, a model investment towards which the livestock is being oriented.

“With Gentian on the “Fshatçe” farm, with over 900 heads, a successful model of closed-cycle farms”, said Krifca.

The minister praised the investment in processing technology similar to the most modern farms in the world. Here, she said, high-tech standards are applied from animal welfare, providing the food base for them, production up to the final product.

Minister Krifca, accompanied by Albanian Food Authority (AKU) Director Jeta Deda, closely inspected this venture that has given another example of development to the livestock sector.

Gentian said that he has turned the rented land into fertile land where he cultivates fodder plants that are the food base for the livestock he breeds on his farm.

In addition, he has set up facilities for grinding concentrates. “The mill and the mixer are high-tech equipment that I got with the support of the IPARD program,” he said.

“We are making a plan to apply to the next IPARD call for a silo combine that greatly facilitates the process of storing food for livestock in silos that feed cows in rations as needed. So, the investment in silos automatically feeds the livestock and the space created for us in this center serves us to fill it with alfalfa and dry grass”, he said.

This venture is focused on the production and packaging of milk. Pasteurized milk and all the main by-products from cheese, yogurt, butter, etc. are produced here, according to the best standards.

AKU director Deda said that all products from this factory are marketed with a unified label, certified by AKU, while all analyzes are carried out regularly.

Minister Krifca evaluated this investment as the best model, an example for livestock farms where this sector aims to reach./p.s./
