TIRANA, September 17 /ATA/ – As the new school year begins, schools are banning mobile phones on campus to minimize distractions and improve focus.

In a social media post, Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro called for cooperation among students, parents and teachers to enforce these rules and create a safe, conducive learning environment.

“As the new school year begins, we are tightening the rules and taking all necessary measures to ban the use of mobile phones in schools,” Kumbaro wrote.

She emphasized that implementing these measures requires the commitment of the entire school community, urging students, parents and teachers to work together to keep the school a space where learning and child development remain the priority.

“Restricting phone use aims to help improve student concentration during lessons and strengthen communication and cooperation within the school community,” Kumbaro highlighted. Minister Kumbaro called upon teachers, students, and parents to work together to keep the school a calm and safe environment—one where learning takes center stage, students remain focused and teachers can fully dedicate themselves to the children’s education and development.

“No phones—more focus, communication and cooperation,” said Kumbaro.

In accordance with school rules, the students must hand over their phones—placing them in the designated classroom drawer or box—from the start of lessons until the end of the school day. /p.s./

TIRANA, November 26/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that in context of the measures to increase security in schools, at all entrances and exits of schools there will be applied digital control for any type of metal device or phone.

During a consultation with a representative group of parents who lead the Parents’ Councils and members of the councils in various schools in Tirana, PM Rama said that digital control will serve to identify any other thing that children may have in their pockets or bags.

PM Rama highlighted the significance of strict implementation of the established rule banning cell phones in schools, but that it cannot be said that it is strictly implemented.

But, Rama said, the problem is broader than simply what happens within the walls of the school.

“This problem goes far beyond the police; it is not simply a police matter and above all this problem is not only within the walls of the home because all those who have pre-teenage or teenage children are aware of the battle with those things; it is not a battle only within the walls of the school, either. But, if only for a moment we would imagine that the overloaded atmosphere with wild language, with wild behavior that is conveyed through media channels would be softened, there would be a general softening. However, this is not something that we have much control over and I do not know what the cure is”, the prime minister said./a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, November 20/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama demanded today the revision of the sanctions related to breaking of the general rule of banning mobile phones in schools.

During a briefing with reporters after the government meeting, Rama said that “For several years, we have banned the mobile phones in schools, but it is high time to also review the sanctions related to breaking of this general rule”.

Meanwhile, according to him, “The employment of security officers and psychologists in our schools has yielded a series of positive results”.

“These results will undoubtedly deepen significantly with the introduction of technology means into the perimeter of every school, even in every class. Practically, the parents will be able to see everything that happens with their child and with the teaching process whenever they want to verify the progress or problems related to their children”, said Rama. /p.s./

TIRANA, October 4/ATA/ The Ministry of Health and Social Protection is pursuing the awareness campaign for performing mammography control, in order to prevent breast cancer. The campaign is held under the motto “It’s worth living”.

For all those women who do not have the opportunity to go to the doctor or to a medical center this year, the priority has been given to sending mobile mammography units to rural and remote areas.

Health Minister Albana Koçiu said today that, “Two mobile units visit the villages and cities of all Albania to offer complete breast control. Today, these mobile units will be in the cities of Kukës and Lushnja, giving women in these areas the opportunity to do a breast check for free and with easy access”.

According to Koçiu, there is no longer necessary a recommendation from the family doctor for doing the mammography visits in mobile units.

The Pink October is international breast cancer awareness month.

The National Screening Program, the extension of free mammography coverage throughout the territory, the inclusion of new modern drugs such as Herceptin in the list of drugs offered free of charge by the state, the expansion of oncology cabinets in Regional Hospitals, all have led to an increase in the number of early diagnoses, as well as reducing the number of fatalities.

TIRANA, February 17/ATA/ Two mobile dental service units are now available for the school children in rural areas.

Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, together with Ambassador of Switzerland Ruth Huber and representatives of health structures participated in the activity for the presentation of the two mobile dentistry units.

“Now, we come into a new stage of investment in terms of the dentistry program for children in schools and it is precisely these two mobile dental care units that will enable us not only to have dental care for children in urban areas, but also in remote areas, through mobile units, which will also have dentists, nurses, technicians who will take care of the oral health of children in remote areas”, said Manastirliu.

The minister said that these mobile dental units will move throughout the country according to a certain calendar.

On her part, Ambassador Ruth Huber considered it an important investment for children’s dental care in rural areas.

“I am very happy to be with you today at the inauguration of two mobile dental care units for school-aged children funded by the Embassy of Switzerland. The two mobile units complete the Albanian government’s investment in providing this service to children who live in rural areas”, said Huber./k.s/p.s./
