Speaking at a meeting of the “Alliance for a Great Albania” with members of the Albanian diaspora in Brescia, Italy, Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha described the gathering as the first stop following the official launch of our electoral campaign in Tirana two days earlier. “This is a campaign of great significance and hope, thanks to you and the broader Albanian diaspora,” Berisha said. “I am deeply honoured and inspired to be here with you today,” he added.

Berisha emphasized that the history of Albanians in Italy is a source of inspiration.

“You are the Albanians of great sacrifice—meeting with you is meeting the noblest form of human sacrifice. But you are also the Albanians of success and great achievement, because you came to Italy, this friendly nation to Albania, as the people who suffered the most under communist dictatorship in Europe. You arrived in Italy to face the unknown, just as every migrant does. And the Italian people, our friends, welcomed you with generosity, hospitality, and humanity. That is why a heartfelt thanks goes to your Italian friends, to the Italian nation—Viva Italia,” said Berisha.

“You have shown what it truly means to be Albanian—overcoming every obstacle, making the impossible possible, and, above all, carrying an unwavering love for your homeland. This meeting is a testament to the sacrifices made, the achievements earned, and the unbreakable spirit of the Albanian people. May God bless you and all Albanian emigrant families around the world,” Berisha stated.

Berisha stated, “The Democratic Party is the political force in Albania that truly embodies the Albanian values you represent.”

Berisha highlighted, “We truly went through a long period of opposition, underwent a difficult process of reorganization, and fought with the greatest intensity for three consecutive years, with the wicked goal of eliminating us and creating an Albania without opposition.”

He continued, “Just like you, and like the diaspora that triumphed over every challenge, we too have overcome every hurdle. We rose from the ashes with a noble purpose: to defend democracy, safeguard the national interest, and to rescue Albania from the second dictatorship.”

He stated, “Even in these challenging and tough times, our Italian friends—leaders and officials of Forza Italia—stood by the Democratic Party, gave us strength, supported us, and continued the legacy of the immortal Silvio Berlusconi, the great Italian who was the greatest friend of the DP, and not only that, the greatest friend of the Albanian people and Albania.”
