PRISHTINA, Jan 23 /ATA/ – Kosovo and Serbia have agreed to activate a joint commission on people missing from the Kosovo war, Kosovo’s chief negotiator said after the latest round of EU-mediated dialogue between the two countries.

Kosovo government said the meetings focused on activation the Joint Commission on Missing Persons, as part of the implementation of an earlier agreement between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Speaking after the talks in Brussels at chief negotiators’ level, Kosovo’s acting First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue said most discussions were held in bilateral formats, first between the Kosovo delegation and the European Union, and subsequently between the Serbian side and the EU.

He said the meetings were successful and resulted in agreement to make the Joint Commission functional, paving the way for concrete implementation of the agreement on persons forcibly disappeared.

Bislimi said representatives of both sides are expected to meet in the coming weeks to determine the commission’s initial work priorities.

He added that other issues were briefly discussed, with further developments expected after the formation of a new government, but stressed that the primary focus of the talks remained implementation of the agreement on missing persons.
