The “Days of Mio” painters’ colony is a true celebration of colors, light and creative spirit. This edition will include around 40 painters from different countries of the world, who will come together to discover the magic of Korça’s alleys, the landscapes of picturesque villages and the special spirit that only Korça knows how to give.

The artists of the brush will turn the city into an open art studio, where each brushstroke will reflect emotion, inspiration and love for the country, as an invitation to become part of this artistic journey that honors the legacy of the great master Vangjush Mio and promotes Korça to the stage of beauty and creativity.

At the “Guri Madhi” art gallery, there has been designated a working premises for the participating painters, who this year come from Italy, Greece, Finland, Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and the United States of America. /r.e/a.f/p.s./

For the first time, the unknown photo archive of Vangjush Mio has been digitized and published. This archive contains about 450 negatives from the years 1930-1940 which bring the atmosphere of Albanian cities, characteristic houses, lost cult objects, pastoral scenes and villages of the Southeast.

It is about rare shots, captured with the painter’s eye, fascinating landscapes of Korça, Pogradec, Elbasan, Kruja, Durrës and Vlora./p.s./

During the year 2022, in the region of Korça, 7 objects were part of the support scheme, one of which the guest-house of Vangjush Mio, where restoration and maintenance works were carried out on the facade, roof, doors and windows.

Along with the guest-house of Vangjush Mio, several objects were restored as part of the Revitalization Bonus 2022 program. After the restoration, they create a complex in the city of Korça, increasing the values in the area and in the Historical Center of Korça. /j.p/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama wrote in the social media that the first multimedia hall opens with the collection of paintings by Vangjush Mio, the first of its kind in Albania.

The first of its kind in Albania, this hall has been opened thanks to the support of the Ministry of Innovation and Entrepreneurship as one of the beneficiaries in the startup facilitation category.

Young people and not only, will be encouraged to develop innovative ideas fused in the 360° Projection, as well as create countless possibilities for their future.

Everyone has the opportunity to have a unique experience with the inauguration today of the multimedia hall at the new Art, Culture and Innovation Center at the Cathedral area in Korça.

For the first time, citizens will be able to have a taste of the paintings of the personal collection of the painter Vangjush Mio in the 360-degree projection.

During his 40-year career, Vangjush Mio created over 400 drawings and 130 paintings.

About 60 of his works of art are in the collection of the National Art Gallery in Tirana. Other works, under the care of his daughter Rozeta, are exhibited in his house-museum. /p.s./

Artists from Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Turkey, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Poland as well as artists from Korça will be part of the colony this year, putting the magic of autumn in Korça and its surroundings on their canvases.

As every year, one of their works realized during the days of the colony will be donated to the “Guri Madhi” Art Gallery, in Korça.

The “Days of Mio” colony will continue until October 28. This activity has already become a tradition. Since 2007, every end of October, in Korça, there takes place this gathering of artists from different countries, in honor of the People’s Painter Vangjush Mio. Korça Cultural Center is also named after him. On the last day of the Colony, there will be an exhibition with the works of art of all the participating painters.

Vangjush Mio is known as the first impressionist in Albania. His landscapes, inspired by Korça and Pogradeci, have been highly appreciated by critics. At the same time, he has been brilliant in the realization of portraits as well as in scenography for the theater of Korça./p.s./
