In the joint press conference alongside the Prime Minister of Italy, Georgia Meloni, Rama said that, “I am proud of the fact that Albania that can serve Italy.”

“Italy has been useful and has served Albania many, many times and if we have the opportunity to be of service to Italy, that is to serve it once, twice, three times then let’s use this opportunity and do it with the heart and with the conviction that the sea between Italy and Albania is not a space that separates us, but a space that links us and it has been so for thousands of years.”

“In such a difficult moment, not only for Italy, but for all of Europe, we are very proud to be able to give our help, not as Europeans within the EU, but as Europeans aligned with the EU, because at the end of the day, no one decides whether we are European or not, although it was the will of God for Albania to be in the heart of Europe,” said Rama.

Of course, the PM added, “we can discuss about anything and we can have doubts about anything, even about the goodness that this agreement is based on, whether it will be something beneficial, or it will be a mistake, but anyway, if it turns out to a mistake, it will be a mistake made from the heart rather than the result of wild calculations.”
In the meantime, Rama stressed, “instead of talking and talking, we tried to do, without pretending to tackle this huge problem of migration in Europe, but on the other hand, without sitting around just talking and talking about it like the priests of Constantinople used to talk about the sex of angels that they failed to protect themselves against the oncoming invasion, we tried to build and contribute a constructive input.”
