TIRANA, March 18 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama affirmed on Wednesday that the Middle East crisis must not be passed on to consumers, noting that this translates into lower profit margins for the fuel supplying companies.
Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting on Wednesday with oil suppliers at the “Business House,” where discussions focused on efforts to mitigate the impact of the current global crisis while protecting consumers as much as possible.
The Prime Minister called on operators to preserve the balance maintained to date, noting that the establishment of a transparency board is not deemed necessary.

He stated, “Provided that dialogue continues to function as it has thus far, our objective is not to constrain your operations, but to reach a mutual understanding that the Middle East crisis cannot be entirely transferred onto consumers. This also entails reduced profit margins for your companies.”

Addressing the global market price increases, the Prime Minister emphasized that the challenge remains open-ended, and no one can predict when the underlying battle, which directly influences oil prices, will come to an end.
“No one can accurately forecast the trajectory of market prices, whether they will continue to rise or plateau at a specific level; however, it is imperative that we undertake the measures within our authority,” Rama added.
