According to data from the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), this fund reached the value of 223 million lek, or almost 2.2 million euros.

The main income that contributes to the growth of the deposit insurance fund in microfinance is the income from the insurance premium that reached 26.4 million ALL, and the income from the investment in financial assets at an estimated value of 8.9 million ALL.

The establishment of this fund started in 2015, with the amendments to the law “On deposit insurance”, which included microfinance institutions in the deposit insurance scheme, up to 2 million ALL for each depositor.

Microfinance institutions provide an efficient contribution to the financing of segments of society that, for various reasons, have limited access to the banking sector. They are mainly focused on financing agricultural economies and SMEs.
