The minister emphasized in his remarks the cooperation with business in order to advance the perspective of the Albanian economy and further improve the business climate.

Minister Mete said that 2023 marked an important moment for the country’s economy.

“We saw a good year in 2023. We are experiencing a good economic moment, while Albania has one of the most resilient economies in the region. We have reduced the debt to a significant extent and have improved in Standard & Poor’s ratings, as well as we have also come out of the gray list. Both of these have contributed to the business climate,” he said.

The expectations for the next year are also positive, said Mete.

“The projections are positive for the medium term based on sectors such as tourism, for example, which has recorded a wonderful year and what is expected is that statistics will increase in 2024. Of course we will do more when it comes to productivity, or a better business climate. Human capital is also one of those areas that we need to focus on. We will also focus on infrastructure, but also on aspects of productivity, which help the business climate,” the Minister of Finance said.

In the end, he added that in parallel with the National Economic Council and the Investment Council, the Tax Council will be restored, as a Government-business discussion platform.

“I believe that we have very good platforms to exchange ideas, opinions, we have the Investment Council where we have had some very fruitful meetings, we also have the National Economic Council and very soon the Ministry of Finance will restore the Tax Council, which will discuss fiscal policies and tax administration as one of the areas where we can cooperate more”, said the minister.
