At a news conference, Meta said that, “without a clear, transparent and assertive plan to supply the population with Covid-19 vaccines, the country risks facing an epidemiological catastrophe with serious impact on the lives and health of citizens. Confusing, changeable, non-transparent vaccination plans, which last from 14 months and more, at the same time cannot be an alibi to currently abandon thousands of infected citizens and dozens who unfortunately are losing their lives every day.”

“Only the scientific criteria of health status and age, set out at international level, are the ones that determine the priorities in vaccination of the population. The criteria of class division, preferential and arbitrary selection of people to receive this vital service, are typical of dictatorships and dictators,” said Meta.

The President stressed that, “hospital centers and especially intensive care units can no longer be left without life-saving equipment, such as respirators, ventilators, CT scans etc., and the necessary medicines to fight this threatening pandemic. Thousands of family doctors and health center nurses cannot be left without personal protective equipment and diagnostic tools. Citizens cannot be left in a state of panic and inability to cope with the very high prices of testing and even more so the treatment of this life-threatening pandemic. Citizens and thousands of patients, who are treated at home, cannot be left at the mercy of fate with no cost of treatment and medical services, which are very expensive, reimbursed.”

Undoubtedly, Meta underlined, “the time is now to review the State Budget, in support of the health sector and invest in a concrete and not sneaky way in priorities, which have been echoed for a long time, from the advent of the pandemic. ”
