TIRANA, March 4 /ATA/ On Friday, President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, called on the government to draw back from any initiative aimed at increasing the fuel metrology concession tariffs.

“I fully share in the concern raised by Confindustry, which has called on the Government to stop short of any initiative aimed at increasing the fuel metrology concession tariffs, which is expected to cost the business and citizens 70 million euros more, from 140 million euros the concession’s value is,” Meta said.

“Regarding this issue, even earlier, I have clearly expressed myself through decree no. 11811, dated 5.11.2020 “On the return for reconsideration in the Assembly of law no. “126/2020 ‘On metrology'” which was rejected by the majority, ” said Meta.

Meta said that “I immediately informed SPAK on the facts that could lead to the identification of criminal responsibilities for such an initiative.”

Therefore, Meta underlined, “not only do I find the concern raised by Confindustry substantiated, but I call on the Government, and especially the Ministry of Finance, to exercise its public functions, free from clientelistic goals, without negotiating any state public interest to the detriment of consumers and public finances. ”
