This is what Minister of Interior Ervin Hoxha said during his meeting today with Kathryn Hammond, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Regional Security Officer, which was also attended by General Director of Police Ilir Proda, Director of Criminal Police Department Neritan Nallbati, and representatives of the Joint Investigative Unit.

They presented a general outline of the joint efforts against certain figures of crime and also highlighted the results achieved.

“Undoubtedly, the work of the Joint Investigative Unit has been challenging, but, like any other responsibility faced by police and law enforcement agencies, when you set out toward a specific objective, there are no insurmountable barriers. I commend the work accomplished by the Unit thus far and conveyed my confidence that this collaboration will further strengthen and deepen in the future, particularly in combating human beings smuggling and various trafficking attempts,” the minister emphasized.

Its main scope, Hoxha emphasized, is in the area of visa fraud, passports, and other forms of travel documentation, but also other criminal figures that share common interests with our law enforcement authorities.

Hoxha expressed his gratitude for the support of the U.S. Embassy and their role in developing the capacities of the Albanian Police.

“I took the opportunity to thank the U.S. Embassy for its cooperation and the American state authorities for their support and willingness to contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the Albanian Police, especially for the members of the ‘Unit.'”
