TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is also the chairman of the Socialist Party, described yesterday’s meeting with Albanians in Thessaloniki as a red-and-black inspiration.

Rama shared a video greeting card on social media featuring highlights from the event, while expressing his gratitude to the hosts yesterday.

“Video card from Thessaloniki, as a thank you to yesterday’s hosts and a red-and-black inspiration for everyone,” Rama wrote on social media.

The meeting was organized as part of the dialogue tour with the diaspora and after the voting rights were conferred upon every Albanian living abroad.

At the meeting yesterday with Albanians in Thessaloniki, Rama emphasized that for the first time, in the 2025 parliamentary elections, members of the diaspora have the right to vote.

According to him, Albanians residing in Greece need not to travel to Albania to cast their ballot on election day.”

“Today, you are voters who, for the first time, have the right to vote right here, from your own home. You know that I, along with my friends, had to work hard to make this promise a reality—a promise we couldn’t fulfil before because it was impossible without securing the votes of the other side,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister sought their support in the upcoming spring elections to make Albania a full member of the EU by 2030.

“I ask for your vote to give Albania the same opportunity that you have given your families: to benefit from life within the European family. Together with the Albanians in Albania and around the world, we can raise the flag of Ismail Qemali in Brussels within this decade,” said Rama.

Prime Minister Rama began the dialogue tour with the diaspora on May 12, 2024, in Athens, and continued on May 26 in Milan, Italy—two countries with the highest number of Albanian emigrants.

On October 26, Prime Minister Rama also held a meeting in New York with Albanians in America, where he urged them to vote in the upcoming elections to continue the mission of making Albania a member of the EU.
