This meeting served as a follow up to an important initiative in parliamentary diplomacy.

Earlier, Tabaku signed a MoU with the Italian Senate, aimed at deepening the ties between the integration committees of the two countries, turning this collaboration into a concrete platform for the exchange of expertise and support in Albania’s EU accession process.

During the meeting, Tabaku raised several challenges faced by Albania, which she described as critical.

She highlighted the electoral elections, which, in her view, have frequently been marred by vote buying and manipulation, thereby undermining democratic standards.

Tabaku also highlighted the failure to enforce the Constitutional Court’s decisions as another challenge, emphasizing that this not only damages the rule of law but also erodes public trust in the justice system.

For Tabaku, corruption and organized crime are also two challenges that not only hinder economic development but also damage Albania’s international credibility.

On the other hand, she expressed gratitude for Italy’s continuous support, particularly appreciating the contribution of anti-mafia structures and economic cooperation, which have become key pillars of the relationship between the two countries.

Tabaku also emphasized the importance of preparing the Albanian market for the implementation of EU standards, considering this an essential step for successful integration.
