TIRANA, May 8 /ATA/ – By Arbi Fortuzi/ Prime Minister and Socialist Party chairman, Edi Rama, stated on Thursday in Vlora that the May 11th elections are far more than just an electoral race, calling them a historic turning point for Albania’s journey toward European Union integration.

During his wrap-up electoral meeting in Vlora, Rama referred to the May 11th elections as a meeting with history, and for Vlora, he stated that this is the second meeting with history.
Rama emphasized, “This isn’t about electoral calculations or simply securing the 71 seats the Socialist Party needs to govern on its own; it’s much more than that. These elections go beyond infrastructure, airports, and tourist ports. They are far more than just the continued development of communities and the investments we’ll make. In the truest sense, these elections are a meeting with history.”

Rama said, “Vlora cannot and should not be absent from this historic moment, and I firmly believe it will not be. I am confident that Vlora will face May 11th more united than ever, overcoming the divisions among Albanians—whether political, regional, or the ‘who am I, and who are you’ mindset—and coming together to provide the Socialist Party with renewed strength. Not for us, not for the SP, not for the SP deputies, nor for the ministerial positions of the SP, nor for me, but for a new power to finalize the EU membership negotiations by 2027 and to secure Albania’s place in the heart of united Europe within this decade.”

Rama stated, “This is the moment to share this with you: this group here has a special quality. Alongside us, the Socialists, are young men and women from the Democratic Youth Forum of Vlora. Their presence symbolizes Vlora’s will, transcending political divisions and old divides. It represents Vlora of men and women who are ready to embrace the mission and responsibility, rise above themselves, and unite as one, working together to build Albania’s European future. “
