TIRANA, June 16 /ATA/ – More than 700 original artworks, books, manuscripts, maps, and engravings dating from the 14th to 19th centuries, will go on public display as part of a landmark exhibition titled “Mediterranean Memory – From Antiquity to Modern Times,” due to open on June 18 at the National Library of Albania in Tirana.

The one-month long exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the rich and diverse heritage of the Mediterranean world, featuring highlights from the Library’s archival collection.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has described the exhibition as “a unique window into our shared history.”

In a social media post on Monday, the government head noted the inclusion of works by Homer, Aristotle, Plutarch, as well as Ottoman maps, Venetian publications, and insights into monotheistic faiths, great travelers, and geographers.

The exhibition is part of the cultural program leading up to Tirana’s designation as Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025, a year-long celebration of cross-cultural heritage and dialogue in the region.

The exhibition of rare historical works will run until July 18.
