TIRANA, May 26 /ATA/ – Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha stated Monday that the opposition will never recognize the May 11 parliamentary election results, calling the vote “a farce.”

Speaking at a press conference, the leader of the main opposition party accused the ruling Socialist Party of electoral fraud, warning that the opposition will escalate political resistance.

“Once again, I declare that the election outcome will not be recognized and those who are seeking to sell electoral crime as electoral success are doing nothing but siding themselves with the cartels, with (Prime Minister) Edi Rama and all the perpetrators of the heinous electoral farce in May 2025,” Berisha stated.

DP leader claimed that “oppositions cannot win electoral farces,” reiterating that “the opposition will resist to defend free vote of Albanians.”

“No option is off the table,” he added, indicating the opposition will push to overturn the results and draw international attention.

Berisha claimed “no free and fair elections can be held under Edi Rama’s government,” accusing the government head of “building an electoral state that carries out electoral farces.”

He underlined that DP will unveil all the documents and evidence to prove that May 11 vote was a farce and will then call on Albanians to defend their vote.

TIRANA, April 1 /ATA/ – Prime Edi Rama urged Albanians abroad to support his Socialist Party in the May 11 parliamentary election, saying their vote would send the message to Brussels that Albanians want their country’s European Union membership now.

Responding to questions on his “Sy m’Sy” social media show on Tuesday, the government head linked the fate of the country’s EU membership bid with the May 11 election, saying this is the moment when Albania’s domestic circumstances match with the current EU’s state of affairs.

“On May 11 election, Brussels will receive the message that Albanians want membership now,” Rama stated.

“We have never been offered this moment before since we were liberated from the nightmare and from the clutches of communist dictatorship and embarked on the path of Europe to become an inseparable and indivisible part of the European Union,” PM Rama said.

“This is the moment that has aligned our European destiny, embodied in the ambition, the persistence in the very old dream of being part of the EU and the destiny of the EU itself which today is embodied in the ambition and desire to expand and include new members,” the government head said.
