TIRANA, May  8 /ATA/- The new “Agro Park” market has opened in Farka as a necessary space for farmers and consumers, who will sell and buy different products.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, said that this market will offer products at cheaper prices for the consumer.

“This facility has been built up to food safety standards and complies with EU requirements. It is equipped with fridge storage for food safety.  Moreover, if until today these foods and products were traded under the conditions of a monopoly, now they are sold at very competitive prices,” said Krifca.

“We had to offer a model commercial area based on the European experience to build this new agricultural center which makes the lives of our customers who live in the city better and more affordable but also to meet the demand for food products up to EU standards,” said the minister.

“This market will be a commercial hub bringing together wholesalers and retailers, farmers and consumers of Tirana. It will be a pole for exchange of information and a shorter trading chain that will also guarantee more affordable prices for the final consumer,” emphasized Krifca.

The incumbent Tirana mayor, Erion Veliaj, said that this market during the weekend will turn into a fair for children and citizens who want to learn more about the soil, fruits and vegetables.

“This market does not stand in the way of anyone. It is important that we continue with the Ring Road project. Today I am glad that the institutions have joined forces,” he emphasized.
