This is what was said at the official ceremony organized by the Operator of the Transmission System and Electricity Market of Kosovo (KOSTT) on behalf of the Albanian Power Exchange – ALPEX, on the occasion of setting to operation the Day Ahead Market for the Bidding Area of Kosovo and the Coupling of Kosovo-Albania Electricity Markets.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that this is a historic moment for the energy sector for both countries, as this development will have a role in economic development as well as transparency in the energy sector.

He said that the deepening of cross-border cooperation is one of the best methods to address the challenges and difficulties in this sector.

Kurti also said that the single market creates new business opportunities and that the merger of the Kosovo-Albania electricity markets is a strategic step towards a more efficient energy ecosystem.
Speaking about the importance of this event, the PM said that this cooperation will enable a more favorable environment for attracting foreign investments.

He also spoke about the last energy crisis, for which he said that it has not gone to waste, as according to him, the lessons and experience gained are turning into cooperation and new opportunities.
Also in attendance of the ceremony were the director of the USAID mission in Kosovo, Eileen Devitt, and the ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Petrit Malaj.
