In a televised interview on amendments to some laws of the Justice Reform, Manja said that, “we have asserted our political position since the first day when the reform of justice system was launched.”

“In this reform we are co-authors with the EC and the US. These additions and changes were made after a long process of discussion and consultation including an inter-institutional group chaired by Minister of Justice and composed of experts from OPDAT and EURALIUS missions. They have been consulted with the HJC and the HPC, General Prosecutor and HIJ, drawing on the opinion of all new justice institutions. These changes have been requested by these institutions to clarify these laws after their application,” stressed Manja.

“Part of these changes are laws with qualified majority that are voted by 84 votes, some of them go through parliament by a simple majority,” said Manja.

“These changes aim to set up an unlock mechanism to ensure a functioning judicial system due to the decrease in the number of judges and prosecutors from vetting process. They aim to clear the backlog in the hands of the justice system either in the High Court, the Courts of Appeal or the First Instance Courts. They also aim to relieve the burden on SPAK focused on corruption in the ranks of senior officials and organized crime, ” said Manja.

Regarding the lists of SP and DP, Manja said that, “out of 12 district leaders, our list contains 10 ladies, of whom 7 are elected for the first time and lead the lists for the first time.”
