“The draft budget that we just passed at the government meeting has two good news for the Ministry of Justice and the fight against corruption. The first good news is about the increase of salaries, to a considerable extent, for all employees of the penitentiary system, putting them on a par in rank and function with the employees of the State Police. It is a promise kept by the Albanian government,” the minister said.

“Two days ago, in the previous meeting of the Council of Ministers, we adopted the establishment of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption at the Ministry of Justice, while today to maintain the integrity of this structure, it was decided that the responsible unit at the Ministry of Justice will have a special financial treatment not to be tempted by corruption. The coordinators of the anti-corruption network, who will be attached to 47 state institutions by government decision will be on a par with deputy director of those institutions where they will exercise their functions.
