“The focus is on vaccinating every citizen +18 years old. Therefore, we are going into high gear, including the outpatient clinics in the vaccination process. Even here at the central outpatient clinic, every citizen can come and receive the jab with an ID card. Undoubtedly, we will continue to consider not only every day, but especially September as a crucial month to expand the vaccination coverage, given that we are close to opening schools and universities,” said Manastirliu.

Minister of Health stressed that every unvaccinated person is a cost to their life and health but also of society, so the vaccination process is very important.

Speaking about the availability of vaccines, Manastirliu said that the government is negotiating with the company Pfizer for another 500 thousand doses of vaccines.
“The government has taken measures to ensure ongoing supply of vaccines. We are also negotiating with Pfizer for another 500,000 doses of vaccine, which will be part of our vaccination schedule for December. These vaccines are expected to arrive by the end of this year, ” said Manastirliu.

Appealing for vaccination, prof. Silva Bino, head of the Department of Epidemiology at the IPH, said that there are still unvaccinated teachers, adding that in addition to the open vaccination campaign, the family doctors have been recommended not to distract attention from high- risk groups.

“There are still unvaccinated teachers that are part of critical and risk groups, for whom we must increase the possibility of vaccination. Health personnel have a higher vaccine coverage compared to others. Police officers have a good vaccination coverage. Of course, we are moving ahead with the open immunization recommending the family doctor not to distract attention from high-risk age groups that have not received the jab yet, ” said Bino.

So far, 1,899,172 vaccines have arrived in our country. A total of 1,427,977 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered since the launch of vaccination./m.m/sm/
