Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj and Mayor Erion Veliaj visited today the largest reconstruction site in Tirana.

Rama said that in the “5 Maji” neighborhood in Tirana will come to life one of the most modern urban, economic, social centers in Albania.

“5 Maji” neighborhood has about 3500 apartments for 11 thousand inhabitants, including car park, service spaces for every residential building, 5 public buildings, 3 educational facilities, a vocational school, church, mosque, French Center for Digital Technology education for youth “ECOLE 42 ‘, he said.

While closely visiting the construction sites of the blocks of flats, PM Rama gave assurances that the project for this block of flats will be finalized at the end of December.

Rama said that it is important that at the end of the year a part of the families enter these apartments, which according to the technical director of works are currently in the phase of completion of electrical and hydraulic infrastructure, to continue later in September with facade and all external infrastructure.

Minister Ahmetaj said that in this new housing unit will be 640 families affected by the earthquake that will be accommodated in total, of which for 370 of them are currently being built collective housing. In the other block are public buildings, two schools, a contribution of the Greek government, we also have the IT building which is a contribution of the Italian government,” said Ahmetaj.

He stressed that, “We are in time to continue the plan in the direction of the central boulevard of Tirana to add public buildings for institutions that may be in space difficulties.”

While, the mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj said that, in parallel with the first block of new buildings, next week is expected to start the part of infrastructure and public facilities designed for this area in function of its community./mm/jp/p.s./
