The map of agricultural exports to the EU member countries has kept steadily growing each year. This is due to the fact that domestic agricultural production has maintained not only an upward trend, but also improved quality and certification of products according to market demands.

The locally grown produce in Lushje and Fier were exported to 20 European countries and many other countries in the region this year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Albania’s agriculture exports include mainly fruits and vegetables, citrus, medicinal plants, seafood and products of the agro-processing industry.

Agriculture in Albania is a significant sector of the economy, which contributes to over 19% of the country’s GDP and turned out to be the least affected sector by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The country’s agricultural exports rose 17% to over $214 million in the first half of this year.
