The central square will host 100+ Albanian and European agricultural innovators for three days, from April 28-30, focusing on sustainability and modern farming. This activity turns Lushnja into a reference point for the presentation of the latest developments in agriculture.

Attending the opening ceremony was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla, who praised the significance of the fair as a platform for cooperation and development for the agricultural sector.

“This fair has become one of the most important activities for agriculture in the country. The participation of companies from the region and Europe creates real opportunities for the exchange of experiences and the conclusion of contracts that lead Albanian products to international markets”, said Salla.

He also highlighted the significance of organizing the farmers through Agricultural Cooperative Societies (ACS), as a model that aims to increase production and improve quality.

“Together with the municipalities, we are working to extend the ACS model throughout the country, with the aim of strengthening the organization of farmers and increasing the competitiveness of the sector,” said the minister.

Salla emphasized that support for agriculture will continue through the National Scheme and financial packages, with the aim of bringing the sector closer to European Union standards.

The minister praised the organization of the fair, appreciating it as an activity that gives value to the city of Lushnja and its agricultural potential, contributing to economic development at the local and regional levels.

After the opening ceremony, which was accompanied by an artistic program, the minister toured the exhibitors’ stands to gain firsthand insights into the featured products and technologies.

The fair showcased the latest technologies in agriculture, quality local products and innovative initiatives, creating concrete opportunities for cooperation and business development for the modernization of the sector.

Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja shared today in the social media a view of the restored Church of St. Mary in Bishqethëm, which is a cult object typical of 18th century constructions.

Gonxhja emphasized the significance of this project of restoration: Consolidation of the church structure; restoration of architectural elements and arrangement of the surrounding territory.

“All interventions were carried out under the supervision of specialists from the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, respecting the historical and architectural values ​​of the object. After careful restoration work, this precious monument of our cultural heritage has regained its historical appearance and dignity,” Gonxhja wrote.

The present-day Church of St. Mary once again radiates as a living center of history, culture and spiritual identity of the local community, a source of memory and inspiration for future generations.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Anila Denaj visited this center today, where she held a conversation with experts on some of the most promising techniques being tested there. These include testing new pepper, tomato and melon hybrids, the use of beneficial insects for biological protection in greenhouses, and the application of “Water retainer” technology for preserving water in the soil.

Similarly, there are also being conducted important experiments in the field of digital fertilization, the use of organic fertilizers, the preservation of genetic resources and the testing of new wheat cultivars.

Minister Denaj emphasized that all these techniques are being applied in real soil and climate conditions, aiming not only at higher yields, but also at significant economic benefits for Albanian farmers.

According to her, the development and preservation of different cultivars are essential for improving the quality of wheat and other agricultural products, directly affecting food security and the sustainability of the sector.

One of the Center’s experts, explaining the testing process, announced that there has been a significant increase in interest from farmers to apply these methods before starting the cultivation of new hybrids.

“At first there were only 3 farmers and the center, a total of 4, while today we have reached 600 farmers who follow these practices,” she said, underlining that the spread of these methods is an important indicator of the positive impact that the center has on the ground.

Minister Denaj also focused on the strategic importance that these methods have in improving food security.

She stated that, if the practices experimented at the National Technology Transfer Center are applied today by farmers, a sustainable and safe production is certainly ensured for the Albanian consumer. /a.gj/a.f/r.e/p.s./

Balluku described this purchase unit as a model in the agricultural system with a consolidated experience in the market, which today cooperates with more than 50 farmers in the area.

The Allkanjari brothers have invested with the support of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development in the establishment of this purchase unit that has been operating for 5 years. Here, there are collected mainly seasonal agricultural products, which then go to supply the markets of Tirana and other cities in the country.

One of the brothers said that this year the production has been abundant and there is no shortage of any seasonal agricultural products, which are in considerable quantities and of good quality. “Farmers harvest their produce from their greenhouses and bring it to our purchase unit and then we distribute it to the domestic market,” he said.

Balluku stressed that the abundant production has also led to a drop in prices.

“The purchase unit has at present a high workload. It is worth noting that the produce coming from the Myzeqe area is traded in the domestic market and goes for export, as high-quality products that, even through laboratory controls, meet the permitted parameters for the use of pesticides, making them meet standards and compete in foreign markets,” said Balluku. /a.f//r.e/p.s./

Begaj talked with farmers, livestock breeders and entrepreneurs for the further promotion of cooperation between them and the main actors of this sector, with the aim of developing agriculture and preserving the quality and safety of products.

President Begaj appreciated the fact that Lushnja has been chosen this year to host dozens of Albanian and international agricultural and manufacturing businesses.

While highlighting the significance of agriculture for the Albanian economy, the well-being and employment, Begaj said that in addition to the long-term strategy, dynamic schemes should be applied that offer solutions to the challenges of the time, where the demographic movement and emigration are the most urgent.

“Abandoning the village does not come from the lure of city lights, inside or outside the country, but from the impossibility of a way of life that brings not only personal achievements, but also contributes to the well-being of society,” said Begaj.

In this context, President Begaj expressed his gratitude to the agricultural experts and to those Albanians who have returned to their lands after emigration, a role he appreciated as patriotic, guaranteeing his support for the strengthening of private enterprises, so that the farmer’s work and the herdsman to be rewarded.

Besides, the visit to the fair stands in Lushnja, Begaj went to the Grame farm, equipped with new techniques for growing vegetables in greenhouses, from where he stated that through such investments, there can be achieved the improvement of production standards and the development of the economy. /k.s/p.s./

The government head took to the social media to share images of the totally transformed site that is designed to host a 10 MW photovoltaic park, as well as a large public space for local residents and visitors to relax and spend leisure time.

From an urban waste landfill, the site has been already rehabilitated and work on construction of the solar power plant is expected to kick off soon.

The rehabilitation work began a year ago and the private investment project also includes construction of the village’s road network.

The solar power plant, due to be built on a 12-ha area, is expected to become operational on August 2024, while the entire area will be transformed into a green park for local Lushnja residents.

Investments in rehabilitation of the irrigation and drainage system have renewed entire areas of agricultural land in the area of Lushnja, while the support schemes from the government have encouraged farmers to increase the planted areas.

Experts say that the increase in agricultural exports is a result of the efficient support policies that go directly to farmers and have encouraged local production, the increase in quality and standards and the approach of a new development of the food chain, through contemporary investments in collection centers. /m.m/p.s./

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca closely inspected the progress of the work in this center which was built with the support of government programs and according to the best standards, with refrigeration capacity and so on. This center helps the farmers in the area to sell products, guaranteeing them optimal prices and supplying the local and foreign market with fresh fruits and vegetables in every season.
