The festival was organized for two evenings in a row in the village of Dhoksat, Lunxhëri Administrative Unit and the characteristic Bazaar of Gjirokastra.

This activity was held thanks to Gjirokastra Municipality, the Ministry of Culture and the Regional Council.

There were 12 folk song groups and ensembles from different areas of the country that participated such as: the polyphonic group “Ergjëria”, “Djemte e Sarandes”, “Bijtje e Tepelenes”, the popular group “Krojet e Velçes”, “Lunxheria” ensemble, Erseke folk orchestra as well as groups from Greece.

Different from the previous editions, the first night of the festival was held on the artistic stage in the village of Dhoksat, while afterwards the organization continued in the characteristic surroundings of the Stone Bazaar of Gjirokastra.

Thanks to the high-quality artistic presentation of folk singers and dancers, “Divani lunxhot” attracted the attention of art lovers of polyphony and folk songs, folk specialists, but also many tourists, who followed with great interest the folk performance and the presentation of ethnography and folk tradition.

About 50 local and foreign researchers and academics, participants in the 50th World Conference of Ballads that is currently taking place in the stone city positively assessed the festival.

According to Mayor Flamur Golemi, “Divani lunxhot” serves as a necklace of natural values, tradition, cultural heritage and tourism for the province of Lunxheria and beyond.

“The municipality of Gjirokastra is also a supporter and works for promotion of the values ​​of tradition, cuisine and especially rich folklore and ethnography”, said Mayor Golemi.

Throughout the summer season, the municipality of Gjirokastra has organized diverse activities, influencing the development of tourism and the transmission of our national traditions and values ​​to the younger generations. /p.s./
