TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ Construction on the Lungomare 3 project—the Vlora-Orikum coastal highway—remains underway as one of the most critical infrastructure developments in the city.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today a view of Radhima, where the lights were turned on for the first time in the new segment of the coastal project.

Through a post on social networks, Rama appreciated the investment as another evidence of the urban transformation that is ongoing in the tourist area of Vlora.

“The lights have just been turned on in the new LungoRadhima project, a new image of the Urban Revival that continues in the beautiful tourist Vlora,” Rama wrote.

The project aims to improve coastal infrastructure, create modern public spaces and increase the tourist attractiveness of the coastline in the south of the country.

The Orikum-Lungomare 3 bypass lies on the hills of the Vlora-Orikum road and will provide a whole new breath of life for Vlora.

This strategic investment expands the area of quality tourism in Vlora and creates optimal conditions for the continuation of Lungomare 4 in the Orikum area, making Vlora the coastal city with the longest promenade in the Mediterranean. Lungomare 3 will serve not only the residents of the area, but all local and foreign tourists who frequent the Vlora coast and the Albanian Riviera. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared in the social media footage of the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection’s (IKMT) ongoing operation to clear illegal structures in Orikum, finalizing the next phase of the seaside overhaul.

“Following the successful clearing up of public spaces, the Lungomare 3 project—spanning Vlora to Orikum—has entered its full implementation phase, marking a complete, high-quality transformation of the coastal landscape,” wrote Rama.

“IKMT’s operation to remove illegal constructions in Orikum continues today, targeting 18 structures. These include roughly 480 m² of reinforced concrete buildings, 450 m² of wooden structures, and several metal-framed tents.

This strategic project will redefine the Vlora-Orikum coastline, creating premium tourism infrastructure and transforming the area into a premier Mediterranean destination.

Lungomare 3 sets the stage for the Lungomare 4 continuation into Orikum, a strategic investment crucial for enhancing tourism infrastructure. This development secures Vlora’s status as a top Mediterranean destination with the region’s longest seaside promenade. /k.s/a.f/r.e/p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Vlora today where he inspected the works at the new Lungomare 3 (seafront) construction site.

“This is the beginning of the construction site of lot 1 of the Lungomare 3 promenade. It is divided into two lots. The entire coastline of 4.5 kilometers has constantly erosion impacts, soil erosion and in certain places, this problem also occurs in the road section” explained the works engineer, while emphasizing that, everything is well-designed in detail and every problem will be solved with the implementation of the project.

The project carries interventions for the qualitative transformation of beaches, public spaces, service units while there will be planted trees and will be created large pedestrian areas on the track of the existing road, where there will also be a bicycle lane. Meanwhile, vehicle traffic will be relocated to a new road, enabling a new breath for the tourist Vlora 2030.

PM Rama said that the further development of areas with high tourist potential will be one of the work priorities for the coming tourist seasons.

“Its transformation into the pedestrian area will be an unprecedented spectacle; it will make this area like the most populated areas along the beach in Spain and Greece. Orikum, Borshi and Ksamili are three areas of great potential. The intervention here, like we did in Vlora, will completely change the view”, said PM Rama./p.s./

The project is expected to be finalized before the summer of 2024.

Attending the start of the works was Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro and the political leader of the ruling Socialist Party for Vlora region, MP Blendi Klosi.

Kumbaro said that throughout its length “Lungomare 3” will be equipped with several parallel tracks and paths that will also cross the sea and return to the road for pedestrians and promenades, but also with a special lane for bicycles.

While Klosi expressed his belief that thanks to this investment, this area will be transformed into a 5-star service area.

“The whole area has received an extraordinary value from the point of view of economic value. It is a project that has designed a touristic value with 5-star services from 5-star hotels, marina and up to the airport”, he said.

TIRANA, May 21 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Saturday that the Urban Renaissance programme launched by his government is designed to renew the image of cities, towns and squares across Albania and support development of tourism industry.

Speaking about importance of the infrastructure projects to boost tourism industry, the government head said in his remarks at an event in Vlora that the waterfront promenade or Lungomare project in the coastal city of Vlora has enhanced value of the properties of citizens living in the area.

Addressing the international conference “Heading to the Future: My City, My Home”, a dialogue platform on community involvement in decision making and future shaping, the government head said that “the beauty in a shared space becomes a catalyst for a set of changes that lead to a structural transformation.”

TIRANA, April 23/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama demanded today that the works for construction of a seafront promenade along Durrës Beach (“Lungomare”) must begin in the fall and said that it is a major project with high economic impact.

The prime minister got acquainted with the project today, during a meeting in Durrës with Mayor Emiriana Sako and the planners of the major intervention for a promenade on Durrës Beach.

Saying that implementation of the project starts in the fall, after the end of the tourist season, Rama said that in the meantime the hotel owners along the coastline should get informed about the project and they should understand that the promenade is an added value.

“We have to make the beach a model and this beach must be completely different within the current governance mandate. We will start this year “, said Rama.

The prime minister stressed that the new project will create another added value and will greatly increase the value of apartments and hotels.

Meanwhile, according to him, the new tourist port will be attached to this project, which is still in the negotiation phase and will be under construction soon.

“We shall make the promenade of Durrës the same like in Vlora”, said Rama.

The Durrës promenade project extends over a distance of 3 km.

There are about 58 hotel buildings with 3100 beds across the coastline.

The project assumes great significance given that during the tourist season, the population in this area increases by 600 thousand inhabitants./p.s./
