In a lengthy message addressed directly to the protester, the government head said he did not view him as the loser of a failed demonstration but as an ordinary citizen left alone with his convictions and personal concerns.

“I don’t know exactly what troubles you,” Rama wrote on social media. “But I know you carry a burden that nobody is solving and few people truly care about.”

The Prime Minister said many of those who had encouraged the demonstrations – including political opponents, television commentators, activists and social media influencers – had used public anger to advance their own agendas before disappearing from the scene.

Rama argued that protesters had been portrayed as symbols of a wider political struggle, only to be left alone once public attention shifted elsewhere.

“Those who turned you into the hero of the evening left you behind,” he wrote.

While acknowledging citizens’ right to oppose his government, Rama urged protesters to question who was responsible for their frustrations, contrasting his administration’s efforts to address the country’s challenges with what he described as political exploitation of public discontent.

He said democracy depended on citizens’ right to criticise those in power, but warned against allowing others to use personal grievances for political purposes.

Rama concluded by inviting dissatisfied citizens to engage directly with state institutions rather than those he said sought to profit from their anger.

“I am your friend, not your enemy,” he wrote.
