TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ The Llogara Tunnel Monitoring and Control Center in Vlora continuously supervises and manages vehicle traffic flow through the tunnel using a comprehensive network of surveillance cameras operating 24/7.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Belinda Balluku toured the state-of-the-art center, which fully complies with all monitoring and safety standards—an essential asset particularly during the summer months when traffic volume is at its peak.
The center’s facilities house comprehensive emergency services for the tunnel, staffed by a team of 50 personnel, including emergency responders and firefighters, with 12-13 employees on duty per shift. A fire truck is also kept on standby in the center’s garage, prepared for rapid response whenever required.
Balluku stated, “It is very important for all vehicle drivers to understand that they are monitored 24 hours a day in the Llogara Tunnel.”
“Traffic code must be strictly followed to avoid violations in the Llogara Tunnel,” Balluku emphasized. “Overtaking is prohibited, and strict adherence to road signage is mandatory. Every movement is recorded, and the traffic police have real-time access to tunnel operations at all times.”

She stated that anyone who exceeds the speed limit, breaches road safety regulations, or engages in illegal overtaking should be aware that the Traffic Police will take appropriate action against them.

She emphasized, “Not being asked to pull over so far does not mean you won’t be subject to fine or penalty removing points from your license.” She further assured that the center provides continuous, minute-by-minute monitoring with advanced technology to ensure maximum safety for all vehicles passing through the 6-kilometer tunnel.
