In a video message, Tabaku appreciates SPAK’s work on the investigation of the incinerators, but also asks the latter to do more on this issue.

“The issue of the incinerators is a good litmus test of the Justice Reform, because people heard it with voice and image. They saw it themselves. They saw the political protection of the Socialist Party. They saw the political protection of the government. On the other hand, they also witnessed abuse. There is no other affair that has been made so transparent at broad daylight and has been defended with so much pathos and with so much effort than the issue of incinerators, and for this reason I have appealed to SPAK,” she said.
Tabaku emphasizes that SPAK must show integrity and close this issue as soon as possible.

“Today we have good results from SPAK, but I know that there is more to it and I know that SPAK can do more. And the Albanians are waiting for SPAK to fully investigate this affair. But it takes will to see it through to the end. This requires integrity. The fight against corruption, of course, requires concrete results and it requires them today, since we voted for the Justice Reform 6 years ago. And if it does not happen today, today is the day, investigation after investigation will be closed and the Albanians will still be waiting and say that X politician managed to get away with it and X politician was not even summoned by the new justice. We do not want the new justice to become a copy of the old justice, we want a different standard today, and I ask for this not only as a legislator who voted for the amendment of the Constitution, but also as the chairperson of the Integration Commission. The fight against corruption cannot remain on paper. It cannot remain a wish and aspiration any more, but it must be concrete. It has to happen today. We need to see the results today,” Tabaku said.
