The opposition leader said that during meeting he expressed gratitude for Austria’s precious and long-standing support for Albania and the country’s effort on the path towards accession into the European Union.

“I shared with him the Democratic Party’s priorities to ensure free and fair elections, the fight against organized crime and corruption, break down the relationship between politics and crime, which have constantly hampered and delayed the country’s progress towards EU accession. With the Minister and representatives of our sister-party, the Austrian People’s Party, we shared our conviction that the European Union is the region’s only alternative, and I assured him that Albania’s EU membership remains DP’s top priority, as a guarantee for building a better future for the Albanian citizens,” Basha said.
