Rama said that lifeguards have an irreplaceable role on the beaches.

“On International Drowning Prevention Day, a thank- you to over 1,200 certified lifeguards who choose this noble task and for the invaluable help they provide every day on the beaches across the country. Lifeguards save lives, prevent disasters and make our holidays safe. Therefore, they have an irreplaceable role on the beaches,” said Rama in a post on social media.

PM emphasized that “municipalities and tourist businesses not only have a legal obligation to recruit life guards, but consider it a top priority along with vacationers who must appreciate their work and warnings.”

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers approved in 2019, everyone who manages a beach station has the obligation to provide the beach watcher as well, along with the relevant infrastructure.
