TIRANA, March 11/ATA/ Saray of Myfit Bey in Libohova is an excellent example of the restoration of our cultural heritage.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared today a view of the restoration of this saray, stating that, “They are an identity reference of the history of Libohova”, while adding that she is looking forward to the cooperation of the Libohova family to revive the saray.

Kumbaro stated that the present-day saray represents “an excellent example of the restoration of our cultural heritage, but also of the care of the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Gjirokastra to maintain the historical mansion that marks our memory”.

Kumbaro stated that the project that has been launched aims at conservation interventions on the roof of the building in order to protect and prevent degradation of this cultural asset.

Thanks to these interventions, this building becomes an added tourist attraction. Saray of Myfit Bey Libohova is located in the center of Libohova.

It has been declared a Cultural Monument, Category II and was built in the 1930s.

Myfit Bey Libohova, the famous diplomat of the Ottoman Empire and the founding father of Albanian diplomacy, was the technician who contributed to the establishment of the Bank and the national currency. /p.s./

TIRANA, August 12/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama shared this evening in the social media a view of Libohova center, full of foreign tourists and local vacationers and wrote that not many years ago, this town was left in oblivion.

“When I went to Libohova for the first time, as the leader of the opposition, it was like one of the many towns in Albania, a God-forsaken place; there was an amazing church falling into solitude, the main road with torn asphalt like crocodile skin, the houses like ghosts under the brown walls of the silent fortress of Shanisha and the people like shadows under the sun”, wrote Rama.

Rama also remembered that talking about a future with tourism and foreign tourists who would climb up to where even the stones had taken their way down was like promising the descent of Martians with flying mules to enjoy the nature, traditions and food of Libohova.

Today, Rama wrote, they are not Martians, but tourists from all over the world and visitors who not only come to the special town to enjoy the fascinating beauty of the restored church, history, nature and Libohova hospitality, but also to dance in the evening on the stone carpet of the Urban Revival, which welcomes new guests every day, where until yesterday only the remaining people were sent through the pits and dust on their way to the last abode.

Libohova is a town in the southeast of Gjirokastra, which lies between the valley of Zagoria and Pogon, known for their natural beauty and cold and crystal clear waters.

The present-day Libohova and Zagoria are the ideal destination for all those who are interested in history, legends or cult objects, for those who love nature and want to enjoy traditional cuisine.

Some researchers think that the town dates back to the 7th century BC.
